About us
Craftsman Electrical started in Wanaka with a van, a set of tools, and a commitment to building something solid.
When we first arrived in town, we were contracting and working alongside other local trades, learning the area and building relationships job by job. Like many small businesses, we began by saying yes to the work that came our way and proving ourselves through reliability and quality.
Early on, we made a decision that shaped how the business grew. We bought a small digger and hired it out, not just as an extra income stream, but as a way to meet builders, landscapers, and contractors across Wanaka and Central Otago. It was a practical way to network, support projects, and become part of the local trade community.
That hands-on, proactive mindset is still part of who we are.
Over time, the work evolved. From service calls and small installations, we moved into high-end residential builds, architectural lighting systems, gate automation, and solar and battery installations. As trust grew, so did the scale and complexity of the projects.
What hasn’t changed is how we operate.
We believe in:
Clear communication
Turning up when we say we will
Clean, compliant workmanship
Thinking ahead instead of cutting corners
We’re a locally based team, not a franchise or a large corporate outfit. When you call Craftsman Electrical, you’re dealing with people who live here and care about the reputation we’re building in this community.
Whether it’s a small job or a full new build, we approach every project with the same standard: do it properly and stand behind the result.
